Week 5 / Assignment

Course Project: Written Safety and Health Program

For all employers over whom OSHA has jurisdiction, having a written safety and health program that details how the employer meets OSHA’s applicable requirements in their workplaces is essential to their accident prevention and regulatory compliance efforts. Written safety and health programs also contain details on how safety and health program requirements are communicated to employees, which includes training.

For the course project, you will compile and revise your Weeks 1-5 writing assignments that make up the main 2-6 components listed below of a written safety and health program for an employer of your choice.

    1. NOTE: For the Week 1 writing assignment “Regulations and Consensus Standards Guidance Document,” you will be adding the 3 hazards covered in Week 2 and their applicable OSHA regulations to this document.
    2. So the final document for this section of the course project will include the 6 hazards covered in Weeks 1 and 2, their applicable 6 OSHA Regulations, and the 3 consensus standards covered during Week 1.

Include a title page for the 1st page of the program as you would for a research paper using APA guidelines.

Item 7 is a new assignment within the written safety and health program and is the last section of the program. You will draft a 1-page document detailing how you plan to communicate and provide training on your written safety program. For reference, please see this example.

You will also record a 6-7 minute video where you are the safety and health specialist and you are communicating the details of your written safety and health program to a group of managers and employees at an employer of your choice.
