Week 4 Overview

This week we will be covering Emergency Action Planning. Why are Emergency Action Plans important? The answer probably seems obvious. Emergency Action Plans are important because emergencies in the workplace are inevitable, and employers have to be prepared to successfully respond to those emergencies. Whether it be fire, toxic chemical releases, severe injuries and illness that occur in the workplace, natural disasters or even workplace violence, every employer in the U. S. will experience an emergency of some kind at one point or another. Emergency Action Plans are designed as a preparation mechanism that is used to guide efforts to successfully respond to these kinds of emergencies and others in the workplace. This week we will also be covering specific Fire and Life Safety and safety from exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and other bacterial hazards in the workplace, which are directly related to Emergency Action Plans.
